Sodium Benzoate is listed as a nasty in our pocket guide when used for food. But why then do we allow it in our cosmetics? The amount of sodium benzoate used in cosmetics is much smaller than in food as a preservative. Furthermore, the molecules are too large to be absorbed by the skin. This preservative has been allowed by Ecocert; the Soil Association and BDIH. It has been ranked by the EWG as having a low risk of 1. BUT there are reports circulating on the internet that warn against usage of the preservative even in cosmetics. We believe it is still one of the safer preservatives, but as always, we wanted you to be in the loop. The choice is yours to make.

I generally have a problem with a dry itchy scalp, so was hoping that this shampoo would solve the problem, but alas, it didn't. It feels nice and tingly when lathering, but it dries out my hair and scalp even more. The bottle is designed so badly. The shampoo just falls out, and is often wasted. I've had to switch to other natural shampoo's in the meantime, but will use this every few washes, or maybe more in summer.

I like this shampoo. It doesn't leave a weird residue like some natural products do. I do find it a bit strong, so watering it down helps if you are of the "low-poo" persuasion

Great for my itchy scalp. I used to have small sores at the back of my head but since using this product I no longer get them. My scalp also does not get itchy anymore.

Have been using this shampoo for a while now. There are times when I switch to other natural shampoos, but always end up coming back to this one.

While quite a watery consistency, this shampoo leaves my hair soft and clean. It removes product build up and doesn weigh my hair down or dry it out. A staple in my beauty cabinet.
