Buchu is a wonderful remedy for your genitourinary system, that is, your genitals and urinary system, as they in some cases use the same pathways in your body. It aids in the proper functioning of the bladder, kidneys and prostate - helping to clear up inflammation and infection in these areas, acting as an antimicrobial and antiseptic that also eases venereal diseases. This can in turn benefit problems like nervous urine retention and poor bladder control. Buchu helps your kidneys excrete water in the case of water retention due to poor kidney function. Directions

Take one to two capsules twice daily, or as prescribed.

Contra-indications:

Avoid the use of Buchu before and during menstruation as it can increase menstrual flow.

Buchu can cause stomach and kidney irritation.

Buchu is not recommended during pregnancy as it can act as an abortive.

Buchu might slow blood clotting. Taking buchu along with medications that also slow clotting might increase the chances of bruising and bleeding.

Some medications that slow blood clotting include aspirin, clopidogrel (Plavix), diclofenac (Voltaren, Cataflam, others), ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin, others), naproxen (Anaprox, Naprosyn, others), dalteparin (Fragmin), enoxaparin (Lovenox), heparin, warfarin (Coumadin), and others

Drug Interaction:

Lithium: Interaction of Buchu can increase drug effect and toxicity of Lithium . Monitor use.

Buchu might slow blood clotting. Taking buchu along with medications that also slow clotting might increase the chances of bruising and bleeding.
